FWD RUN / BCK RUN Buttons Greyed Out and Locked — Cannot Run Move

Summary

After loading a saved move (or sometimes after a software update), the FWD RUN and BCK RUN buttons are greyed out and clicking them does nothing. This is caused by a hidden "Buttons Locked" setting in the Customize Side Menu, buried under the Lock Some Controls feature. It is not a software fault — the setting was either toggled accidentally or arrived in a saved job. Unlocking takes under a minute once you know where to look.

Symptoms

  • FWD RUN and BCK RUN buttons are greyed out in the main Flair Classic UI
  • Clicking the buttons does nothing
  • Move loads and axes respond normally — only the run buttons are disabled
  • Rebooting Flair or reloading the job does not restore the buttons
  • Issue appeared after saving a specific move or after an update

[CONFIRMED] Unlock via Customize Side Menu

2023-03-15 — Dig / Jeremy Andrews (Flair Classic 7.20 Beta)

  1. Open VIEW menu → Adj Numeric Cont → Customise Side Menu
  2. Find the line "Lock Some Controls" and tick the checkbox to enable it in the Editing Menu
  3. Click Apply
  4. Go to the Editing Menu (in the main toolbar)
  5. Find the box labelled "Buttons Enabled"
  6. Right-click it — a popup appears
  7. Make sure the FWD & BCK Run checkboxes are NOT ticked (unticked = enabled)
  8. Confirm the master toggle reads "BUTTONS ENABLED" (not "BUTTONS LOCKED")
  9. Close the menu — the run buttons should now be active

Then find the line that says… "lock some controls" and check the box which enables that in the editing menu.. Click on Apply then goto the Editing menu and there is a box called "Buttons Enabled".. right click on it and there is another box that appears.. make sure that the FWD & BCK run boxes are NOT ticked.. and that the "BUTTONS LOCKED" box says BUTTONS ENABLED.
