Cinebot Nano Underslung or Ceiling Mount Workaround¶
Summary¶
Using the Cinebot Nano ceiling mounted or underslung (upside down) is not officially supported in Flair 7 kinematics, but can be achieved with a specific workaround. The rig must remain configured as "floor mount" inside Flair, while the physical inverted orientation is set in the Duco robot configuration. This means XYZ axes will be reversed with respect to room coordinates, but kinematics and the rig model will be correct.
Extra caution required. Underslung / ceiling mounting is an unsupported configuration. Verify move extents carefully in the rig model before running, and ensure full axis limits are set correctly for the inverted orientation.
Symptoms¶
- Operator needs to mount the Cinebot Nano upside down on a ceiling rig or underslung from a structure.
- Flair has no native "ceiling mount" or "inverted" kinematics option for the Nano.
- Standard floor-mount mode produces incorrect rig model when physically inverted.
Workaround¶
[CONFIRMED] Set floor mount in Flair, change orientation only in Duco¶
- In Flair kinematics, leave the robot configured as Floor Mount — do not change this.
- In the Duco web interface, change the robot orientation to match the physical inverted installation.
- Verify the rig model looks correct in Flair's 3D view after making the Duco change.
Result: Kinematics and the rig model will be correct, but XYZ will be reversed with respect to room coordinates. This means Carts moves that reference world XYZ (e.g. Carts Priority, target tracking in world space) will have reversed axes compared to a floor-mounted system.
Confidence: 0.85 — confirmed by MRMC support (gordon_admin, 2026-03-11).
Note: Official ceiling-mount support in Flair kinematics is planned for a future Flair release.

However you can still do this by leaving it as 'floor mount' in Flair kinematics and only changing this in the Duco robot configuration. However XYZ will be reversed with respect to room coordinate, but kinematics and model will be correct. Please practice extra caution when using this set up." |
