Simul8 is a Maya plug-in developed by MRMC for 3D previsualization, inverse kinematics solving, limit checking, and move export for all major MRMC robotic camera systems.

What Simul8 Does

  • 3D previz — animate camera moves inside Maya using accurate MRMC rig models
  • IK solving — move the end effector; Simul8 solves axis positions automatically
  • Limit checking — verify moves stay within physical limits; shows max achievable FPS
  • Export to Flair — outputs .txt files (axis or carts format) for direct Flair import
  • Target distance export — includes lens focus distance data for Flair to reproduce
  • FBX/USD export — export rig geometry to Cinema 4D, Unreal, or other DCC tools

Supported Rigs (v3.1.0)

Bolt Jr+, Bolt on Track, Bolt X on Track, Bolt Mini, Cinebot Mini (pedestal + track), Cinebot Max, Cinebot Nano, Milo (medium + long arm), Animoko, Modula, UR10, UR5, Cyclops — all with Aux1 and Aux2 axes. PTR solver for Track/Extend (v3.1.0+). Column solver (v3.0.0+).
