Focus Box Invisible on Network — Not Found in Flair's Find Window¶
Summary¶
An MRMC Bolt's Focus (Ulti) Box stopped appearing in Flair's network Find window, while every other device on the rig — including other Ulti boxes — was detected normally. An extensive isolation process (direct-to-hub wiring, hub power cycling, IP-conflict checks, a full-range network scan with Angry IP Scanner, and swapping the black box switch and a spare Ulti box) narrowed the fault down to the Focus Box or its network port itself, but did not produce a confirmed fix within this thread — the unit was sent back to MRMC for inspection/repair.
Symptoms¶
- Focus Box does not appear in Flair's "Find" device list, while all other network devices (other Ulti boxes, robot controller, etc.) are detected normally.
- Symptom persists after disconnecting all other cables from the control-box hub except PC-in and RT14, and running a direct long cable to just the arm box.
- Symptom persists after power-cycling the hub and restarting the whole rig.
- No IP conflicts found.
- Focus Box LED stays solid green at all times, including when a cable is plugged directly into a switch with only a scanning PC attached.
- A full-range Angry IP Scanner sweep of the
192.168.1.xsubnet does not show the Focus Box responding on any address.

[OPEN — PARTIAL DIAGNOSIS] Isolation Checklist Before Assuming Hardware Failure¶
Community — Peter Rush, Stafford, Gordon Eschke — 25-26 June 2026
Before concluding the Focus Box itself has failed, work through this isolation sequence:
- Disconnect every other cable from the control-box hub, leaving only PC IN and RT14. Run a single long cable directly to the arm/Focus Box.
- Power-cycle the hub, then power up the rig fresh and check whether "Find" shows the box.
- Check for an IP address conflict — try scanning a wider IP range than the expected
192.168.1.xblock in case the box has acquired an unexpected address. - Plug the Focus Box into a plain switch (one of the standard black box switches) with only a scanning PC attached (no Flair needed) and run Angry IP Scanner across the full subnet.
- If nothing responds on any address, swap in a spare black box switch, then a spare Ulti box, to isolate whether the fault is the cable/switch path or the Focus Box itself.
Stafford: "You can plug the box into a switch like one of those black boxes you get with the rig and also plug a PC into the switch... then use angry IP scanner to see if it's on any address 192 168 1 xx... If you don't find anything alive on that scan then it's gonna need sending in to MRMC for repairs."

[OPEN] Solid Green LED Does Not Guarantee a Healthy Network Port¶
Community — Gordon Eschke — 25 June 2026
A solid green LED on the Focus Box was initially assumed to mean the unit was fine, but the box was still unreachable on the network in every scan performed. The LED state alone should not be trusted to rule out a network-side hardware fault (port or cable) versus a fully dead unit.
Gordon Eschke: "Maybe the network port is faulty. Do you have a spare of this box?"
If a spare Focus/Ulti box and a spare switch both fail to change the result, the fault is most likely isolated to the reported unit's network port or internals — escalate to MRMC/Multidyne support for repair rather than continuing to troubleshoot in the field.
