InTime Doesn't Work After Cloning SSD to Backup PC

Summary

After cloning the main Flair/InTime PC's SSD to a new drive and installing it in a backup PC, InTime fails to start or the EtherCAT connection to the CS8 does not work. Root cause: the InTime license is tied to the original hardware or drive; cloning does not carry the license across. Fix: copy the InTime license and config files from the original installation, or re-apply the InTime license on the new drive. If EtherCAT still doesn't connect after the license fix, check the cifx module is set to autostart in the Node A config (see NET-intime-cifx-ecat-module-not-autoload.md).

Symptoms

  • InTime does not start on the backup PC after SSD clone
  • InTime starts but the EtherCAT connection to CS8 fails
  • Moving back to the original PC works fine
  • The issue is specific to the cloned/new drive — all other software works

Fix

[CONFIRMED] Copy InTime license and config from original installation

  1. Copy the InTime license file from the original PC/drive to the equivalent location on the backup
  2. Copy the InTime config files (Node A configuration, module settings)
  3. If that alone doesn't restore the EtherCAT connection, check the cifxecat.rta / cifxsthg.eta module is set to autostart in InTime Explorer — see NET-intime-cifx-ecat-module-not-autoload.md for the specific steps
  4. If copying config doesn't work: reinstall InTime on the new drive using the MRMC-provided installer and re-apply the license — contact MRMC Support for the license key

Swapping to SSDs and I have so much 3rd party software that I opted to clone my main PC drive to an SSD, and began with installing that SSD on my backup PC. Now Intime doesn't work on the backup.
