CS8 Controller Not Hard-Mounted in Bolt Base — Transport and Tilt Risk

The CS8 controller inside a standard Bolt base is held in place only by its own weight and clips/grooves — it is not bolted down. The clips prevent the CS8 from sliding horizontally, but do not prevent it from lifting out if the base is tilted sideways or inverted. If you need to transport the Bolt on its side (e.g. through a narrow elevator) or mount it underslung/inverted, the CS8 must be secured with padding or straps before moving. MRMC confirmed: for full overhead/underslung mounting the CS8 would need to be rehoused internally.

  • Tipping the base on its side for a narrow elevator door or unusual transport can allow the CS8 to shift or fall
  • Inverting the base (for an underslung ceiling mount) would require the CS8 to be re-secured

Safe Practice

  1. Standard upright transport: no action needed — CS8 is stable
  2. Tipping the Bolt base on its side (e.g. narrow elevator): add padding and straps above the CS8 before tipping to prevent it from lifting or shifting
  3. If tipping sideways, Timothy recommended tipping to the Right side to avoid potential damage to the track amplifier
  4. Ceiling/underslung mount: consult MRMC — the CS8 would need to be rehoused internally before inverting
  5. Helicopter or air transport on its side: secure the CS8 internally before loading
  6. After any non-standard transport, visually inspect the CS8 is seated correctly in its grooves before powering up
