Tracker App — Camera Direction Inverted After App Update (Y, Z, Pan, Tilt Reversed)

Summary

After an apparent MRMC Tracker App update in early 2024, some operators found the 3D camera icon in the app was facing 180 degrees the wrong direction — pointing backwards relative to the actual lens. The effect on import is that Y, Z, Pan, and Tilt axes are all inverted, while X and Roll axes behave correctly. The issue affects both the standard LiDAR-recorded move paths and the Live Tracker real-time control mode. No fix was provided in the community chat and the issue was not answered — it appears to be an app-side regression from an update.

Symptoms

  • The 3D camera graphic inside the Tracker App faces the opposite direction to the physical camera lens.
  • On import to Flair, Y and Z axes are inverted (positive movement becomes negative and vice versa).
  • Pan and Tilt axes are also inverted — panning left records a right pan, and tilting up records a tilt down.
  • X axis and Roll axis behave correctly and are not affected.
  • The inversion occurs in both the recorded move (LiDAR path) and Live Tracker mode.
  • The camera setup in Flair is correct (lens pointing the right way) but the tracker app treats the camera as looking backwards.
  • The problem appeared immediately after an app update with no configuration change on the operator's side.

[OPEN — UNRESOLVED] Inverted Camera After App Update — No Fix Confirmed

2024-02-23 — Tom D

Tom D reported this issue after noticing the Tracker App had been updated. The camera orientation within the app was reversed, causing all but X and Roll to import inverted. The issue went unanswered in the chat context. No workaround was confirmed.

Possible manual workaround (not confirmed in chat): In Flair's import dialog, individual axis inversions may be possible by negating the axis data or using axis scaling of -1. Check if the Flair import dialog for Tracker CSV has any axis inversion options. Alternatively, manually flipping keyframe values in the Cartesian Graphics editor could correct the data post-import.

Tom D: "Does anyone know please why the MRMC tracker app has inverted my camera to face the opposite direction to where the actual lens is pointing?" Tom D: "The effect is that now my Y and Z axis are inverted as well as pan and tilt axis. X and Roll axis are behaving correctly. This is happening for both the live tracker and the recorded paths taken using the LiDAR in the app. My camera in flair is setup correctly with lens looking in the correct direction, but the tracker app is treating the camera like it's looking backwards." Tom D: "Looks like the app has been updated recently?"

[23/2/2024] Tom D: Does anyone know please why the MRMC tracker app has inverted my camera to face the opposite direction to where the actual lens is pointing? Ie, the 3D camera image here taken from the app should be facing 180 the other direction.
