Summary¶

The MRMC VP Sync Box is a hardware device that sits between the Flair PC and the Unreal Engine/LED wall system. It receives Flair's standard 50Hz XYZ camera tracking data stream and retimes the packets to align them with the incoming genlock (sync) signal from the sync generator. Without this retiming, the 50Hz data packets arrive at arbitrary points within the LED wall's refresh cycle — causing subtle but visible image tearing or camera position jumps on the wall. With the Sync Box, each data packet arrives precisely synchronised to the LED refresh, eliminating these artefacts. This is an alternative to using Flair's native Sync XYZ output mode.

An alternative to the Sync Box is Flair's built-in Sync XYZ output mode, which fires data packets synchronised to the genlock input at the RT14. This does not require additional hardware if the Flair setup already has genlock input at the RT14. The Sync Box is primarily useful when adding genlock synchronisation to an existing installation without modifying Flair's output configuration.
