Streaming FreeD from Flair Without a Robot Connected (Offline Mode)¶
Summary¶
Flair can stream FreeD camera tracking data to an external application (Unreal Engine, LiveFX, etc.) even when running in offline mode (no robot connected). MRMC Support confirmed this is supported. The setup is identical to online mode: configure the FreeD output in External Devices Setup with the destination IP and port, and the data will stream. This is useful for previsualization, tech prep, or visiting a virtual production volume with a laptop only.

[RESOLVED] FreeD Streaming Works in Offline Mode¶
Community — Tom D, MRMC Support — April 2025
Tom D: "Does anyone know please if we are able to stream FreeD yet out of an offline Flair (without Robot connected) — one of the latest offline versions?"
MRMC Support: "Yes you can."
Tom D: "I'm heading to a client's volume and was hoping to stream from Mac OSX 7.4.0 beta43 (last Intel release MRMC did). It should be as simple as using settings in External Devices Setup the same as if I was doing it with a robot connected (online version) yes?"
MRMC Support: "Yes."
Setup:
- Launch Flair in offline mode (no InTime / no robot connected — hash
*RemoteRobotin flair.ini if needed, or use the Milo offline version). - Open External Devices Setup (same as the online workflow).
- Configure the FreeD output with the destination IP address and port (default: port 40000).
- FreeD data will stream from Flair's playback position or live tracking input.

Community — Tom D — April 2025
For Mac users: the last Intel-compatible Flair 7 release for Mac was build 7.4.0 beta43. This version supports offline FreeD streaming. Newer builds may require an Apple Silicon Mac. Confirm with MRMC (support@mrmoco.com) for the current Mac build status.

[INFORMATIONAL] LED Volume Offline Tech Prep¶
Community — Heiko Matting — November 2022
Heiko Matting: "Btw good news from a LED stage — exporting RT data works absolutely easy with FreeD, plug and play. The important thing is, you need to try that with hardware, so that the InTime network is running the data. Offline checks yesterday seemed to be more confusing than helpful."
This early note was from 2022 before offline FreeD was confirmed. By 2025, MRMC Support confirmed that offline streaming is supported. If you experience unexpected issues with offline FreeD output, verify you are on a current build (7.4.0+) and that the External Devices Setup is saving correctly between sessions.
