RED Monstro End Trigger Sticks On — Hold / GPIO / Pulse Settings¶
Summary¶
An intermittent RED Monstro end-trigger problem was linked to GPIO / trigger pulse behaviour and possibly adding a hold at the end of the move. The trigger light flashed correctly at start, then stayed on at the end until target-tracking XYZ movement caused the stop pulse. Disabling and restoring camera GPIO settings temporarily fixed it; adding a hold made it recur.
Symptoms¶
- Start trigger works.
- End trigger is missed or sticks on.
- Orange trigger light stays on at the end of the move.
- Moving the robot from Flair sends the pending stop pulse and clears the trigger light.
- Problem appeared on Bolt Jr+ with Flair 7.4.0 Beta 24 and RED Monstro synced to LED volume via AJA Gen10.
Community Guidance¶
[LIKELY] Check pulse mode, pulse length, and RED GPIO edge behaviour¶
2025-06-12 — Indrek / Timothy Heys Cerchio
- Confirm External Control of Camera is set to Pulsed.
- In Setups -> External Camera Setup, check pulse length. If using
9/50, try increasing to12. - On the RED, check Menu > Setup > Settings > GPIO.
- Try changing Rec Toggle behaviour to High, or map Low/High explicitly to Rec Start / Rec Stop.
- If the issue appears only after adding an end hold, test without the hold and compare Flair Classic / newer Flair 7 builds.

Status¶
Needs review. The thread found useful workarounds but suspected a hidden Flair 7 post-roll / hold interaction.

[12/6/2025, 4:25:17 am] ~ TIMOTHY SMITH: Anyone ever have this error and output monitor readout? Currently only running an MRMC small TT and not connected to anything else. All axis disengaged and locked except for the turntable and the TT is not losing data connection

[12/6/2025, 11:28:54 pm] Timothy Heys Cerchio: You could try swapping the Rec Toggle function to High
[12/6/2025, 11:30:48 pm] Timothy Heys Cerchio: Or set Low to Rec Start and High to Rec Stop - Or the opposite way round (I always forget which works the correct way 😬)
[12/6/2025, 11:32:43 pm] Timothy Heys Cerchio: But then, just to confirm... Your orange Trigger Pulse light on the Sync Cable turns on at beginning of move only and then on again at the end of the move, right?
[12/6/2025, 11:36:50 pm] ~ Indrek: It flashed at the start while triggering the move and then stayed on at the end until I moved the robot. But we disabled everything in the GPIO settings and set it back as it was and now it is working fine again. Can’t really understand what is happening here
[12/6/2025, 11:46:11 pm] ~ Indrek: started happening again when I added a hold to the end. Something to do with that
[12/6/2025, 11:47:13 pm] ~ Indrek: Does it make sense?
