WhatsApp Excerpts¶
- 2021-11-23 03:40 - ~ Dan Gottesman: hey - here's a question for those of you more familiar with troubleshooting Windows PCs than me.... I ran into an issue today where neither of the DisplayPort ports on our Dell seemed to work. The machine appeared to boot properly, but regardless of swapping cables and trying two different monitors - I couldn't get the machine to put up an image on the screen. Multiple reboots, etc; nothing seemed to help. This particular PC also has a VGA port, so I dug up an older VGA display, and thankfully...
- 2021-11-23 03:41 - ~ Dan Gottesman: My concern is - what if this happens when I'm on location? I don't want to have to carry around an old VGA display, just for this one particular obscure issue. Does anyone know of any tricks to do some sort of a reset on the PC, that might force it to re-connect to the DP ports? Kind of like a P-RAM reset on a Mac?
- 2021-11-23 03:43 - ~ Radu Stefan Fulga: You can try win+ctrl+shift+B it forces a display driver reset
- 2021-11-23 03:44 - ~ Radu Stefan Fulga: If something fails to load on windows startup, and worked before... It should force it to restart the driver and search for displays.
- 2021-11-23 03:54 - ~ Radu Stefan Fulga: You may have integrated graphics on the motherboard and the display port on the graphics card, which for some reason failed to load on start-up. So it makes sense that it would see only the VGA display.
- 2021-11-23 04:00 - ~ Radu Stefan Fulga: I don't know if it's wise to do so with Flair on the computer, but I would try updating the motherboard driver, the go to device manager, and check under display adapters if you have a graphics card
