iPad Turntable Control App (Uniboard) — Connection Issues and Discontinuation (April 2025)¶
Summary¶
MRMC released an iOS iPad app in April 2022 to control Ethernet turntables (Uniboard) independently of Flair — allowing operators to home, jog, and run the turntable from an iPad without needing the full Flair PC. The app was discontinued in April 2025 and has no planned return. During its operational period, connection issues were the most common problem: the WiFi router must be set up as an access point at 192.168.1.1 (not in router mode), and app restarts often resolved intermittent connection errors. For turntable control without the app, MRMC now recommends either a simple wired hand controller for stepper motors or running Flair on a standalone laptop (no InTime required).
Symptoms¶
- App fails to connect to turntable even when on the same network.
- "Connection error" appears every 5 seconds even with a direct USB-C Ethernet adapter.
- App connects and homes successfully but then loses connection repeatedly.
- "Over speed trip" connection error when attempting to run.
- App no longer available on the App Store (as of April 2025).
Community Guidance¶
[RESOLVED] Router Must Be Configured as Access Point at 192.168.1.1¶
2024-09-17 — Gordon Eschke
The most common setup error is leaving the WiFi router in its default "Router" mode. For the turntable app, the router must be configured as an access point with IP address 192.168.1.1. In router/NAT mode, the iPad and turntable are on different subnets and cannot communicate.
Gordon Eschke: "What is your router set up with? ...the router needs to be set as an access point and would normally be 192.168.1.1."

[WORKAROUND] App Restart Often Fixes Connection Errors¶
2024-01-23 — Colin Michael Quinn / Ante / Riley Morgan
Many intermittent connection errors are resolved by simply restarting the app. This is not a robust solution but works in the short term. Reducing the speed setting in the app also resolved "over speed trip" errors for some operators.
Colin Michael Quinn: "Ok I got it, just restarted the app and it worked." Niko: "Try to run a bit slower looks like over speed trip."

[RESOLVED] Direct USB-C Ethernet Connection — Still Has Issues¶
2024-01-23 — Colin Michael Quinn / Timothy Heys Cerchio
Some operators tried bypassing WiFi by connecting the iPad directly to the turntable's network port via a USB-C Ethernet adapter. This also experienced intermittent connection errors. The app architecture appears to have been sensitive to network timing regardless of connection method.

[RESOLVED — APP DISCONTINUED] iOS Turntable App Removed From App Store — April 2025¶
2025-04-04 — MRMC Support
The MRMC iOS turntable app was officially discontinued in April 2025. As of December 2025, MRMC confirmed there are no plans to re-introduce it.
Current alternatives for turntable control without full Flair:
- Simple wired hand controller — MRMC supplies a hand controller for stepper motor turntables (contact MRMC support).
- Flair on a standalone laptop — Flair can control turntables without InTime, a network hub, or any robot hardware connected. Comment out the
*RemoteRobotline in flair.ini and run Flair offline. The turntable connects via its own network path.
MRMC Support: "Yes the iOS app for the turntable has unfortunately been discontinued." MRMC Support (December 2025): "No plan to re-introduce the iOS app unfortunately at this time." MRMC Support: "You could use a simple hand controller or just Flair on a standalone laptop, you wouldn't even need InTime or anything."
